“Just as the wave can not exist for itself, but is ever a part of the heaving surface of the ocean, so must I never live my life for itself, but always in the experience which is going on around me.”
Albert Schweitzer
Award winning photographer Abul Kalam has a passion for photography but he uses his camera lens’s to convey to the world the hardships of his people, their struggles and determination to rise above the dark fog when it envelopes them. He himself faced a lot of challenges, stumbled even but he never gave out and instead he rise and continue to walk in the field of photography. His passion equals his commitment to his people to serve them by documenting their lives so as not to be forgotten in the years to come and may one day be included in the history; not just as his personal photos of them but stories filled with lessons that we may all learn. Abul once told me that he wants to see his people free from poverty, he yearns for them to return to their homeland and see them all prosper, to coexist peacefully with the different ethnic tribes in Myanmar and in the near future see them all healing with their beloved country. And he will continue with his personal journey on photography until life no longer permits him. That is his prayer. A prayer not just for himself but for all his people.
