“The way I see it, hard times aren’t only about money, or drought, or dust. Hard times are about losing spirit, and hope, and what happens when dreams dry up.”
Karen Hesse
Looking at her downcast eyes and the eyes of her child cradled in her arms that is clearly afraid yet putting on a brave front to look straight at the camera, I can not help but see through her pains and sorrowful eyes that she is one protective mother. Had she given up hopes and dreams for her self ? maybe yes and maybe no but all I know is that no mother would ever give up hope for their children. Take time to look at her and you will see that beyond her weary body and sad face is the presence of lingering hopes, and longings to be free. They may have escaped death at the hands of Myanmar’s military back then but they are still trapped inside the world’s largest open air prison/ camps in Bangladesh. Though they are alive yet not truly for their spirits were mercilessly crushed in their homeland still they find ways to live for their next generation of Rohingya.
